I have used N and G Tomlinson for well over 10 years for cutting the beech hedges in my garden, shaping shrubs and more recently, cutting down a large cedar tree which was diseased. Neil and his team are always an absolute pleasure to deal with. Neil returns calls very quickly, is always very helpful and is extremely knowledgeable in his field of work. Neil removed a large tree from the garden for us. Turned up and did the job as agreed. Excellent work – extremely tidy. Left us the wood chopped up ready for the log burner. Would happily recommend.

A mature beech tree in our garden was struck by lightning, and we were informed by the Peak Park authority that it would have to be taken down. We hired Tomlinson Trees, and within a couple of days Neil came out to quote. He clearly knew his eggs, was a very nice chap, considered all variables and gave us helpful suggestions, and had a very competitive quote with us within 24 hours. We agreed a date, and at the appointed time a team of three tree surgeons arrived and started work. The job took three days, they encountered some pretty rough weather on day two, yet maintained a cheery disposition throughout. They were a lovely bunch of guys, tidied the garden after they were done, did exactly what was listed in the quote, and the invoice at the end matched the original quote to the penny. We consider the job very good value (they felled the tree but also split the wood into (several years’ worth of) logs for us, and removed the sawdust), they were polite and very easy to get on with, good with our kids, and we won’t hesitate to use them again for future tree work (we have several other mature trees so think that is when rather than if!). Highly, highly recommended – we would never use anyone else. About as pain-free as finding a quality tradesman could get!

I have no hesitation in recommending Neil Tomlinson and his team. I live in a conservation area and have used his services on two occasions to fell and prune trees in my garden. He obtained the required planning permits and completed a highly skilled, safe and professional job on both occasions. The crew were polite, pleasant and considerate and left the site clean and tidy with wood and chipping stored as requested. Excellent work – highly recommend!
